Lymphatic Drainage Massage

The Lymphatic Drainage Massage is a very gentle manual therapy that promotes the removal of bodily toxins and waste fluids, and encourages a healthy immune system by improving the overall functioning of the lymphatic system.

The lymphatic system is a network of ducts parallel to the blood system. All residues, toxins, bacteria, etc. that come from the blood and tissues that are not absorbed by the blood, drain into the lymphatic vessels. Throughout this collector system, there are small cleanse centers (glands) that destroy everything that is harmful. Once the lymphatic liquid is clear and regenerated, it returns to the blood system. In few words, the lymphatic system consists of organs, ducts and glands.

The lymphatic system has three (3) functions:

  • Immunologic (filters and cleanses bacteria, abnormal cells, etc.)
  • Recovery (returns unused proteins to the blood)
  • Fat Transporter (absorbed fats in the small intestine are carried to the blood)

The lymph is uncolored liquid and it flows ten (10) times slower than blood. When glands are obstructed, the lymphatic flow blocks or slows down. It requires and external stimulus to prevent edemas (swellings) and other complications.

Indications:

  • Edemas (swellings) due to surgery, post-partum or degenerative diseases
  • Post-cosmetic surgery
  • Edemas due to traumatism, fractures or sprains
  • Luxation
  • Anti-cellulite Treatments
